This tutorial will guide you on how to create and manage existing FTP accounts via cPanel.

All hosting accounts are accessed via FTP (File Transfer Protocol) using your cPanel username and password. As a master account, the cPanel logins provides you with full access to your files and folders hosted under your account.

To create a new FTP accounts, please follow below steps:

Click on FTP Accounts section.

Create FTP Account

In this section you can create new or modify existing FTP accounts. To create a new FTP account you will need to fill in the login details and the access directory of the account as well as the allowed disk space quote for the account.

Log In : the user name which will be followed by @domainname.com

Password: make sure you enter a strong password and keep it safe.

Quota: If you need to limit the disk usage per user or leave it as Unlimited.

Directory: This is an important part of the process, here you can specify if the user has access to all folder by default which is (public_html) or a specific folder.

You can also specify a folder for each user for example for a user to access only (design) folder, you will need to input the following in the Directory (public_html/design).

The same method used to create nested folders or sub-folders, for example to grant access to a user for folder (graphics) inside (design) folder, you will need to enter the follower (public_html/design/graphics)

Lastly, hit Create FTP Account button.

Now that you've created the new user account and set its directory, you can click on the Configure FTP Client for configuration and setup.

Here you have the option to Manually setup the account using the Manual Settings given, or select pre-configured settings as per your FTP Client (FileZilla, CoreFTP or Cyberduck)

That’s it 🙂
