If you have just purchased a new computer or maybe received one without hardware documentation or just maybe your friend is asking you to check their laptop drive storage specs, how do you find out what type of drive it has without opening it up?
There is a very easy way to find out if the laptop/PC is running on SSD (Solid State Drive) or HDD (SATA or otherwise) type of drive.
The Steps:
Step One: Open Start menu
Step Two: Type "Defragment and Optimize Drives" - if you're on windows 8+ ( older versions, open My Computer > Right Click of any Drive > Properties > Tools tab > Drfragment ) refer to below picture:
Final Step: Under Media Type you'll see if the drive is a SSD (Solid State Drive) or HDD ( Hard Disk Drive)
