Adobe CC June Update Highlights
You might have noticed that Adobe moved from the traditional 18-month release cycle to multiple releases per year. Some find it less exciting than the big news and major releases. However, in this one, there are some new tools and initiatives to get excited about — particularly for the fans of Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or Adobe XD.
Adobe CC Desktop Update
The desktop app is what connects the CC suite. Adobe is updating the desktop app, transforming it into a place to connect, learn and manage your work - documents.
Adobe Photoshop June Updates
The biggest news is for Photoshop users. An enhancement for the Select Subject tool. It's no secret that Adobe was behind in this area. Many lesser-known apps could do a better job and faster. With detailed cut-outs are requiring hours of manual work to get right in Adobe PS. Now the algorithms of the Select Subject tool have been updated. They are reducing hours of work that it took to isolate complicated shapes like hair or smoke.
Another update for Photoshop is the Local Hue Adjustments. This allows users to localize changes to an image's view colors. You could always get this done, but now you can do it without multiple masked layers.
The third update comes for Lightroom integration. So you can switch back and forth between the two apps easily.
Adobe XD June Updates
It's evident that XD is fast becoming Adobe's most important app. Maybe not as higher sales numbers, but its singular ability to keep pace with rivals like Figma.
June's updates mark XD's 30th release. It includes a new way of working with layouts: Stacks are CSS Flexbox-style elements that work horizontally or vertically. Stacks are content-aware, with elements repositioning themselves when dragged.
The new XD also introduces Design Tokens.
What are Adobe XD Design Tokens?
Design Tokens is a simple way of marking a design as a color. So that when the final product is exported, the developer receives more insight into the designer's intention.
Premiere Pro June Updates
The biggest update news is the introduction of stock audio to the Adobe Stock Library. This means that you can try and purchase music from within your Premiere Pro. Maybe you find this as a purely commercial decision from Adobe, but we all know the addition of music takes a video to the next level.
Adobe Illustrator June Updates
The rarely updated app now gets a welcome update.
Adobe Illustrator can now save directly to the cloud, which is much faster than saving on a local drive according to Adobe tests.
