1. Sir Richard Branson
One of Britain’s most successful businessmen, Richard Branson, has been a mega investor who has tapped into the entrepreneurial spirit of risk-taking. From a very young age, he knew that the way to success in life, business, and more was to stick with ideas and see them through. The young entrepreneur's success story, starting at the age of 16, began with Virgin Records, and this expanded to Virgin Airlines within a couple of decades. A prolific investor in Internet services, telecommunications, tourism, hotel, healthcare, and much more – Branson not only succeeds as an entrepreneur but as an individual who has a great deal of admiration for non-entrepreneurial activities. These are the soft skills and interests that contribute to an entrepreneur’s personality, making them a person that you would want to do business with. His philanthropy, taste for adventure, and business spirit have made him a key personality around the world.
2. Steve Jobs
You can’t go anywhere these days without seeing an Apple product around. This entrepreneur's success story, although isn’t the most pleasant at times, is exceptionally compelling. One of the things that make this particular entrepreneur so successful is “ take no prisoners” style of business. An entrepreneur's success, unfortunately, doesn’t always need to correlate with being nice! He was fierce, relentless, and at times mean-spirited - these are some of the attributes that, more often than not in business, separate the wheat from the chaff. After parting from Apple in the mid-1990s, Jobs moved onto NeXT computers and, after this, proceeded to take over the Graphic Group. A few years on, he came back to be the permanent CEO of Apple in 2007, amassing almost $7 billion in wealth. Even after passing away at a young age of 56, his creative and fierce management style lives on to inspire young and budding entrepreneurs all around the world.
3. Bill Gates
Here is a man that has started one of the most well-recognisable brands around the world, Microsoft. He is the second richest man on the planet and has amassed a personal wealth of over $98 billion. We can all learn from Bill Gates in the way that he pursues the opportunities that he sees. Despite getting into Harvard and achieving top SAT scores, Gates dropped out halfway through as he saw an opportunity for business that he felt couldn’t be ignored. Luckily for him, the risk paid off. Gates has always been interested in computers since childhood, and after starting Microsoft within a decade, became the biggest global name in computer technology. One of the most likeable things about this entrepreneur is that he is heavily involved in philanthropy. To date, no one has given away more of their wealth than this man has over the years. Along with his wife, Gates has set up a foundation and has given away over half of his wealth to charitable causes, including vaccine research, eliminating poverty, and much more. His success stories inspire many people, even after his retirement – he continues to talk and lecture on entrepreneurship, business management, and how to be a successful businessman.
4. Mark Zuckerberg
This entrepreneur has become one of the most famous in the world and arguably has created the most influential technology on the planet. He’s not as old as the entrepreneurs we’ve mentioned, and Zuckerberg has proven that age needn’t be a barrier in the world of business. Success, in Mark’s case, is guaranteed for anyone with the right attitude, no matter how young they are. His revolutionary way of thinking in terms of the Internet and social media is what has made him stand out. Along with this, ’s very innovative and has fine attention to detail – these are key qualities to have in business. As of late 2019, he was worth over $68 billion. In 2004, from the comfort of his Harvard dormitory, the developed an idea for a platform where people could connect online. Over the years, he developed this dream to a level that some might argue has caused some detriment to the planet. Nonetheless, he was an inspiration for many young entrepreneurs who are looking to become just as wealthy as him.
5. Jeff Bezos
Last but not least, we can’t forget the ultimate list of entrepreneurs without looking at Bezos. The success rate of entrepreneurs can likely be compared to a baseline of this man alone, who currently holds the title of the world’s richest person. After founding Amazon, Bezos has a network of over a hundred and $50 billion. Hailing from New Mexico, Bezos attended Princeton, graduating with skills in electrical engineering there after working in Seattle in the mid-90s, he founded Amazon. His ability to think on his feet and innovate grew this company, which first was the major online bookstore, to an enormous online store, selling almost every product on earth! So what can be said for us as well, and how did he become such a successful person? One thing is clear – ideas always win. You may not need all the technical know-how to run a successful company - sometimes the key to success is to work on developing good ideas. This does require hard work, perseverance, and effort, rather than the misconception that people sit around and wait for their big ideas to happen. There are business success quotes entrepreneurs, influencers, and many others tout, and Plato’s “nothing worthwhile is easy” fits in well here. It’s not a mystery that hard work leads to success. We can all learn a lot from this character, and we can all see how much money he makes.
